More and more middle class families send their children to study in secondary schools abroad recently.This brings both benefits and drawbacks.In my opinion,it is a good thing for both children and parents because of the following reasons.
Firstly,children can receive better education.With the development of economy,there are more educational resources and the conditions in schools have developed.However,only a few secondary schools students can get into key high schools.For example,it is only 5% in the city of Beijing.It means that many students won’t be able to get into a famous university.Therefore,if parents have enough money to send children to study abroad,it helps children to become more competitive.
Secondly,once children leave home,they will learn to take care of themselves.They have to learn to manage their finance,communicate with other people and adapt themselves to a new environment.All of these will make the children understand the world well.
However,some evidences show that this practice leads to a few problems.For example,some children may have adjustment problems because of culture shock and/or a unfamiliar language.However,I don’t think these are serious problems,and I believe most of children will benefit from studying overseas.
