压缩机动力为电动机,经三角皮带传动,使曲轴作旋转运动,再通过连杆带动活塞在气缸内作往复运动.由于气缸容积的变化,导致缸内的压力变化.气阀配制在气缸端部,自由状态的空气经空气滤清器,(兼有消声器作用)吸气阀进入气缸,在气缸内被缩成具有0.7MPA压力的压缩空气由排气阀经排气管道在风扇(主动皮带轮作用)的冷却下,通过单向阀进入储气罐.
压缩机设有电气控制装置和能够调节排气压力的装置,当排气压力超过0.5MPA时,气压开关自动切断电源,压缩机停转.自动放空部分将排气管内的高压气体放出,当压力降至0.2MPA时,气压开关又会自动接通电源,使压缩机投入运行.(气压开关的调节范围为0.4-0.72MPA)压缩机还装有安全阀,一旦气压开关失灵时能起安全保护作用,故压缩机能安全可靠地运行.
