A Crow, half-dead with thirst, came upon a Pitcher which had once been full of water; but when the Crow put its beak into the mouth of the Pitcher he found that only very little water was left in it, and that he could not reach far enough down to get at it. He tried, and he tried, but at last had to give up in despair. Then a thought came to him, and he took a pebble and dropped it into the Pitcher. Then he took another pebble and dropped it into the Pitcher. Then he took another pebble and dropped that into the Pitcher. Then he took another pebble and dropped that into the Pitcher. Then he took another pebble and dropped that into the Pitcher. Then he took another pebble and dropped that into the Pitcher. At last, at last, he saw the water mount up near him, and after casting in a few more pebbles he was able to quench his thirst and save his life. Little by little does the trick. 一只乌鸦口渴得要命，他飞到一只大水罐旁，水罐里没有多少水，他想尽了办法，仍喝不到水。于是，他就使出全身力气去推，想把罐推倒，倒出水来，而大水罐却推也推不动。乌鸦灵机一动想出了一个好办法，他用口叼来许多石子投到水罐里，随着石子的增多，罐里的水也就逐渐地升高了。最后，乌鸦高兴地喝到了水，解了口渴。
