One of China's greatest ever athletes,Deng Yaping dominated the world table tennis scene for nearly a decade.Known as the smallest giant due to her diminutive height,she won Olympic gold medals at Atlanta and Barcelona.
In 1996,when she retired at the age of 24,she had won more titles than any other players in the sport and had been world champion in table tennis 18 times.
Following her retirement,she was selected as a member of the International Olympic Committee,or the IOC in 1997,and is a member of the elite Laureus World Sports Academy.
